ASTM C 1166-06 Flame Propagation

ASTM C 1166-06 (flame propagation) is a laboratory flame procedure used to measure flame propagation of cellular or dense elastomeric gaskets for aerospace, transportation, and construction industries. ASTM C1166 data is utilized by suppliers and engineers to carefully select materials for elastomeric components, including gaskets, spacers, shims, setting blocks, and other parts. The test procedure exposes specimens to an open flame, Bunsen burner, for a certain amount of time until the flame spreads to a certain interval. The values collected to determine the specimen's surface flammability that is used to verify if the specimens meet safety compliances.
